Help us give a warm welcome to Alexandra Dissanayake, our new Digital Coordinator, Search and Analytics. Alexandra comes to us with a love of problem solving and drilling down to discover solutions that inspire positive change. We sat down to ask her some hard-hitting (sort of) questions to help you get to know her and here’s what she had to say.

1. Do you have any nicknames we should know about?

I am known as both Alex and Lexi by different people in my life.

2. What is your favorite part about working in Search/Analytics?

Problem solving! I love being able to dive into a massive amount of data, with a massive question in mind, and drill down to find the solutions.

3. Why did you choose RDW?

I have been searching a long time for a position where I could impact positive change, while also taking advantage of my analytical and technical skills. I immediately identified with the mission of RDW and it really feels meant to be that I ended up here.

4. Who’s your idol? Why?

It’s hard to pick just one person but if I had to it would probably have to be my dad, for his resilience, or Barbra Streisand for hers.

5. What’s your favorite place you’ve visited?

New Zealand or Sri Lanka. I am very lucky to have family all over the world!

6. Cat person or dog person? Why?

I am a total all-animal person, but I would probably be called a cat-person considering I have a cat and volunteer and foster kittens for the RI Community Cat Center!

7. Favorite karaoke song?

Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae! Or anything by Amy Winehouse. Pre-pandemic, I was an avid karaoke attendee. I am still searching for a virtual alternative.

8. Most rewarding project/past achievement you’ve been a part of?

Leading the development of the Circle Camps for Grieving Children’s Virtual Program for 2020! I acted as the project manager and facilitator of this program, which I designed as an alternative for the in-person sleepaway camp due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

9. What’s your background (educational)?

I have a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems concentrating on Digital/E-Commerce from UMass Dartmouth.

Welcome to the team, Alexandra! We’re excited to create positive change with you.
