Help us give a warm welcome to David Varhol, our new Digital Engagement Specialist. Dave comes to us with a degree in Business from URI and skills in email marketing, web content management, and marketing automation. In his spare time, he dabbles in videography (bonus!) and enjoys spending time in the great outdoors. We sat down and asked him some questions to help you get to know him a little better and here’s what he had to say.
What are your favorite and least favorite foods? Please elaborate
I pretty much eat everything and anything, or at least I’m willing to give it a try. Life’s too short to be a picky eater. In the summertime, you can find me at the raw bar or on the endless search for the area’s best Bloody Mary.
What is your favorite part about working in digital marketing?
The customer journey. With all of the technical resources we have available to us today, consumers are more educated than ever. We have access to all kinds of information at our fingertips that make our buying decision more complex than ever. I find the journey a consumer takes to purchase goods/services fascinating, especially with all of the competition out there.
Why did you choose Incentric?
I’ve worked mostly with internal marketing departments and have always wanted to work on the agency side of things. I think it will be fun working with different types of clients and not just marketing the same product all the time. The energy and expertise that I’ve seen from the team so far sealed the deal for me.
What are some of your hobbies?
Cars, motorcycles, hockey, snowboarding, golf…Finding some kind of DIY project to keep me busy usually does the trick.
What’s your favorite place you’ve visited?
One of my favorite trips I’ve been on was a backpacking trip through Europe with a few friends after we graduated college. We hit all of the major cities in Western Europe, staying at hostels along the way trying to see how far our extremely small budget would get us. My favorite place along the way would probably be the beaches of Barcelona.
Cat person or dog person?
Dog guy. Cats are rude
Favorite karaoke song?
Green Day – Basket Case…love me some punk rock!
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Teleporting needs to be a thing and it needs to be a thing now! Although I’m a car guy and love doing donuts in the snow (driving), I see traffic as a huge inefficiency in my day-to-day.
Most rewarding project/past achievement you’ve been a part of?
Probably producing and editing a previous employer’s company ‘About Us’ overview video. It was great to showcase to the public what our small company was all about and shine some light on all of the hard work the staff put in.
What’s your background (educational)?
I studied Business at the University of Rhode Island, and graduated in 2011.
Welcome to the agency side of things, Dave! Looking forward to seeing how you’ll help guide those customer journeys.
The little content engine that could.
