Welcome to the iFactory team, Iona Holloway aka Shetty. Take a minute to learn a little more about our newest Interactive Designer, how she acquired her nickname and what she has to say about the “tipping point” in the design process.
1. Do you have any nicknames we should know about?
My boyfriend calls me Shetty which is derived from a breed of horse called the Shetland Pony. If you want to see an excellent example of a Shetland Pony follow @teddytheshetland on Instagram. Shetland Ponies are short, strong for their size, a little willful, and badly behaved if not trained well…take from that what you will.
2. What are your favorite and least favorite foods? Please elaborate
I eat everything. My favorite meal is a pint of ice cream for dinner. I do that maybe twice a week and I am not ashamed.
3. What is your favorite part about working in Design?
I like that tipping point in the design process when everything looks really terrible … and then you suddenly feel it coming together.
4. What’s your favorite place you’ve visited?
The Isle of Skye is a small desolate island off the west coast of Scotland. Almost all the roads are single-lane so you have to be very good at reversing and overtaking or else you’re getting nowhere fast.
5. Cat person or dog person? Why?
Dog person…but it wasn’t always that way. A dog bit my brother when we were small and I was scarred for life. I was terrified of all dogs until the age of 23 when I accepted a job in Austin and had 5 days to find an apartment. I was introduced to a friend of a friend who had two cats, two dogs, multiple fish, and a few water snails. She asked if I was cool with animals. I said yes, because I had to be. The girl I lived with is now one of my best friends and I think I want a dog. Stuff works out sometimes.
Welcome to the team Iona!
