Help us give a warm welcome (or should we say welcome back) to Social Media Coordinator, Sara Gasrow. A recent Johnson & Wales grad, Sara may be the newest face on the social team, but she’s no stranger to RDW Group. She interned with us not once, but twice, and we’re excited to have her back for more. We sat down to ask her some questions to help you get to know her a little better and here’s what she had to say.
1. Do you have any nicknames we should know about?
No official nicknames – feel free to make your own!
2. What are your favorite and least favorite foods? Please elaborate
Favorite food: ANY kind of seafood, but especially salmon and oysters.
Least favorite food: this is super hard because I’m really not a picky eater, but some foods I have an irrational dislike of include pork chops, sunbutter, and most types of beans.
3. What is your favorite part about working in marketing?
My favorite part of working in marketing is the way that I get to work on something new all the time! There is always a new concept to develop, or a new campaign to launch, or new ideas to brainstorm, and if I get stuck on one project, I can shift gears to the next and get the creative juices flowing again in no time.
4. Why did you choose RDW?
I chose RDW to be able to contribute to a culture of creating positive change. I was fortunate enough to be able to be an intern at RDW not once, but twice, and the experience left a lasting impact on me and my career goals. I’ve been dreaming of a career at RDW since my first day as an intern in May 2017!
5. Who’s your idol? Why?
Definitely my Mom. I lost my Mom to breast cancer when I was in high school, but she still remains my biggest inspiration to work hard and keep moving forward, no matter what challenges life throws at me. She taught me how to stay motivated, never settle, and never give up on my dreams.
6. What’s your favorite place you’ve visited?
I visited Quebec City for New Year’s 2019, and it was hands-down my favorite vacation to date. While the temperature was below zero for most of the trip, we got to go on a local food tour, see the sights of the historic city, and experience the New Year’s celebrations Canadian-style!
7. Cat person or dog person? Why?
Honestly, I love both equally, but… living the one-bedroom apartment life, my cat Wanda is my only fur-baby as of now.
8. Favorite karaoke song?
Man! I Feel Like A Woman! By Shania Twain, hands-down. It’s a girl-power anthem!
9. If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Definitely teleportation, so that I could travel anywhere I wanted in the world at any time!
10. Most rewarding project/past achievement you’ve been a part of?
In college, my sorority Delta Phi Epsilon’s philanthropy was the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Being a part of a campus-wide fundraising event where we raised thousands of dollars and had a chance to meet the individuals the organization supports was an incredibly rewarding experience.
11. What’s your background (educational)?
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Advertising & Marketing Communications with a concentration in Digital Marketing & Analytics from Johnson & Wales University. Before that, I attended Rocky Hill Country Day School, where I got to do my Senior Internship Project at RDW Group!
Welcome Sara! We can’t wait to get those creative juices flowing and create positive change with you.
