RI COVID-19 response

How do you combat a pandemic?

With the COVID-19 crisis hitting Rhode Island hard during the early months, the state’s interagency task force needed to educate about infection prevention protocols, encourage the adoption of a new contact tracing app, and communicate guidelines and procedures for reopening businesses and public places.

We responded with around-the-clock support. We designed and published reopening guidelines, and we created multi-channel communications campaigns to promote essential prevention behaviors such as hand washing, wearing face coverings, distancing, and tracking personal contacts. As always, we leaned on our understanding of social learning and behavioral economics to motivate adoption and compliance.

Rhode Island’s comprehensive approach to public health intervention and social marketing has helped make the state one of only a few states where new cases of COVID-19 are stable or in decline.

To educate the RI residents about various aspects of the state’s coronavirus response (from face coverings to a contact tracing app), we created several TV spots that feature real Rhode Islanders doing the right thing.

We programmed, redesigned, updated, and edited much of the state’s online home for current coronavirus information.

We created numerous illustrations that communicate vital information aimed at organizations, businesses, and the public to help ensure the state could reopen safely.
