Meet Michelle, RDW Controller

Help us give a warm welcome to RDW’s newest Controller, Michelle Costa. Michelle comes to us with a degree in Accounting, certifications in Human Resources, and a love of problem solving and analyzing data. Take a minute to learn a little more about her, and you’ll see why we’re so excited to have her on the team.

1. Why did you choose RDW?

During the interview process I strongly felt that the culture at RDW was collaborative, friendly and family-like. I also liked how long RDW has been in business and the tenure of most of its employees. I felt like it spoke highly of the positive culture here.

2. What are your favorite and least favorite foods? Please elaborate

It’s hard to pick. I love most foods — Portuguese, Italian, Mexican, Greek/Mediterranean, Asian. I also love trying anything new. I might even consider myself a foodie

3. What is your favorite part about working in finance?

I love problem solving and analyzing data.

4. What’s your favorite place you’ve visited?

The island of Sao Miguel in Acores.  No matter where you are on the island, your view is always mountains and or ocean.  The lush greenery is breathtaking, the air is the freshest I have ever inhaled, the deliciousness of every bite of food. You can taste the freshness of farm to table.

5. Cat person or dog person? Why?

Dog person, 100%. No one will ever be happier to see you than your dog, even if you were only gone 10 minutes.

6. Favorite karaoke song?

I’m too shy to sing karaoke in public, but in the privacy of my kitchen Pitbull and Bruno Mars get sung quite often

7. Most rewarding project/past achievement you’ve been a part of?

My husband and I foster dogs. We tend to take in the hard cases — elder, sick, neglected. It is so rewarding to nurture a sick, scared, untrusting, previously mistreated animal into a healthy, happy, loving, trusting animal and knowing they have nothing but the best lives ahead. It is always bittersweet seeing them go off to their new forever families.

8. What’s your background (educational)?

I have a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Bryant University (It was Bryant College when I graduated).  I also completed a certificate program from Bryant University in Human Resources Management in which I maintain my SHRM (Society for Human Resources Management) and PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certifications.

Welcome Michelle! We’re looking forward to working more with you.
