Getting to Know Kyra, RDW Social Media Coordinator
Help us give a warm welcome to RDW Group’s newest Social Media Coordinator, Kyra Northup. A recent Johnson & Wales University grad, Kyra comes to us with a wealth of internship experience in social media and influencer/creator relations. Haven’t met her yet? We sat down and asked her some questions to help you get to know her better and here’s what she had to say.
1. Why did you choose RDW?
As this is my first full-time role after graduating, I wanted to work for an organization with strong employee tenure, as it reflects a positive work environment and a culture where people truly enjoy their roles and colleagues. I was also particularly drawn to working on accounts in higher education and healthcare. These industries are constantly evolving which offers me the chance to grow and learn from the unique challenges and opportunities they present.
2. Who’s your idol? Why?
Taylor Swift has been my idol since I was 7 years old after my dad took me to see her perform front row on the Fearless Tour. While many people look up to her, she holds a very special place in my heart. I’m in awe of her ability to transform deeply emotional, heartbreaking moments into poetic lyrics that resonate with so many. On top of that, I admire how she carries herself with grace and resilience in an industry as tough as hers, even after all these years.
3. What’s your favorite place you’ve visited?
Italy 100%! I went to Rome, the Amalfi coast, and Florence. Italy’s beauty is truly unmatched, and seeing the Amalfi Coast in person was breathtaking. Plus, the thrifting in Rome was amazing!
4. Most rewarding project/past achievement you’ve been a part of?
The most rewarding project I’ve been a part of was participating in the American Advertising Federation’s National Student Advertising Competition during my Junior and Senior years of college. I had the opportunity to create fully integrated campaigns for brands like the job search platform Indeed and Procter & Gamble’s Tide. In my senior year, I was honored to serve as president of the club, which was incredibly fulfilling and allowed me to develop valuable leadership skills.
5. What’s your background (educational)?
I graduated in May from Johnson & Wales University with a bachelors degree in Marketing and Advertising Communications.
